Greenwood is also the home of Lander University.
Greenwood holds one of the region's largest freight rail
yards.
Greenwood has claimed that it has the widest main street
in the world.
Greenwood's nickname is "The Emerald City."
Greenwood's elementary school Springfield Elementary was
an intentional tie-in with The Simpsons school
Springfield Elementary and created a brief, local furor.
The school council allowed the children to choose a name
for the then newly built elementary school, and
afterwards, some parents unsuccessfully protested the
name citing Bart Simpson as a bad example for children
