As you cross over Wrights Memorial Bridge, with the
picturesque Currituck Sound on your left and Albermarle
Sound on your right, it's officially time to take a deep
breath, let go of your stresses and start enjoying life,
just don't forget to merge left at the intersection of
Highway 12 and 158, if you are indeed headed to Duck.
Stretching from the Currituck Sound to the Atlantic
Ocean, Duck is surrounded by water making it the perfect
back drop to build lasting memories with your friends
and family. Duck, NC has good pace to it and a nice
sense of balance. It's definitely a laid back beach
town, but it's not sleepy. In Duck, there is enough to
do to keep you busy if you so choose, whether it's
strolling the quaint stores located in town, trying your
hand at sailing on the Currituck Sound or playing golf
at a nearby course. But, Duck is also quiet enough that
you feel that you have truly gotten away from the hustle
and bustle.
Duck is one of six incorporated towns in
Dare County. Duck, NC was incorporated on May 1, 2002.
The others towns in Dare County which are incorporated
are Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags
Head and Manteo. There are also numerous villages and
unincorporated towns, including Wanchese, Stumpy Point,
East Lake, Manns Harbor, Colington, Rodanthe, Salvo,
Waves, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.
